THE VALUE OF ART

Written on: July 17, 2025

Allright. It's time for another great post. Althought, I am saying it for myself. Of course. So, Don Aapo, I hope you're ready to smash that keyboard.

Anyways. This time it's time to talk about the value of art. So what is the value of art? Does it have value?

I am here to declare that art has a lot of value to it. It could be argued that the difference between a cheap, old automobile and a Porsche is just art. The Porsche is a more artistic creation than a plain car, for sure. Many people think that a Porsche is a valuable thing. If it costs 40 thousand to buy a car like that, that's usually a lot of work that a person has to do to get that car. So people are willing to do some work for aesthetics, often.

That is great news for us artists who make a living and maybe do their life's work in art and aesthetics.

Okay so what is the value of art, then, Don Aapo?

Well. Definitely the value of art is related to this - an exampple from my personal experience is that art can help lift one's mood. If there's a happy kid in a photo, we can't help but laugh a little with the kid. Most of us love a great song too and it can make us feel very positive emotions and be a great way to spend time.

Maybe we can consider also The Bible and The Quran also works of art. Those have influenced millions of people, as have some poets, sages, saints, mystics and other kinds of cultural influencers.

They have made the lives of millions a lot nicer, which is to say that we are today, standing on the shoulders of these giants.

So art definitely has a lot of value and that is why we should get over all resistance to producing it, as much as we want. Do it for the team okay?

Or do it for your own sake. But anyway, creation is what the game is all about, and I am ready to eat my shoes if this is not the case. So I am placing my bets on the creativity itself.

For those who read my last post, I need to say that I f*cking love Verkkokauppa.com and I they have a sweet 500 euro discount offer on this drawing tablet Huion Kamvas Pro 27 Drawing Tablet as of writing this post.

I would definitely buy that one if I had the funds. Would be awesome for drawing and stuff. I actually bought a cheaper one and it's a nice tool also but doesn't have a screen on it, and that 27 inch tablet actually has a 4k touchscreen which is super good in it and a pen and so.

I would buy that one if I had the money and perhaps I will.

So art has the value to boost our mood and make our lives better and it's also a hobby that's not necessarily too dangerous (if you know what I am saying). Unless you write poetry or something.

Poetry surely is dangerous because the words can dive deep into the essence of one's very being.

So it's a hobby that can also be a side hustle and some people even are able to pay their bills with their artistic creations which is pretty awesome.

Art can affect one's mood in a positive way and even inspire and make one appreciate life more and make life a beautiful experience in every sense of the word. It can also be used to communicate subtle truths and things. For example the nature of the universe can, according to ancient wisdom, be best said with a poem.

So what is the nature of art? That is to ask, what is it?

Art is an expression of beauty, aesthetics or so. Maybe some professor can define it better but art is a play with life. It's a play that we create and consume for entertainments sake, and to express who we are and what life is.

Art is a thing that is created for purposes of spirituality, I am sure of it first. In the end a flower, is kinda pointless. It doesn't have necessarily a purpose for a human other than beauty.

It simply looks nice and can express something about life but it's not a necessity for survival. So I guess that is what art is like, kind of. It's like sweet filling inside a food one might eat.

So the food can also be eaten without the filling but with the filling it tastes extra special. So that is what art is all about.

One can definitely live without music or poetry or visual art or books or dancing. You wouldn't die without them, right?

So they are, like said, not a necessity for survival. But an enjoyable experience regardless, and perhaps even a very useful one for one's wants in life, such as living well or living an inspired life.

So that's a little bit of an explanation of what art is and what is it's purpose and does it have any value.

Good Artists Copy, Great Artists Steal

Next up, I'd like to dive a little bit into the roguery that is being a great artist. If you want to be a superb artist easily, you must become a master rogue.

Thieving is the way to go. There's even a Finnish proverb along the lines of; "That which you steal when young, you own when old."

So get stealing. That is my advice if you want to be successful in business. To be a master artist business, one must be in the business of roguery and thiefcraft.
